These onions are definitely in need of weeding. The beauty of the grid garden is that plants are perfectly spaced for the amount of room they need, which means that weeds are easy to notice and pull when they are tiny, and it takes so little time. Jim had the whole section done in about ten minutes.
We’ve had virtually no rain in two and a half weeks, so the soil is looking dry. That’s a switch for our springs. Getting the weeds out is a cinch, but the time has come to take remedial action. Even thought rain is expected, we still gave the garden a good drink before we left.
