Bob enjoys growing potatoes. His garden plot bursts at the seams with flourishing, vigorous potato plants. In fact, I understand that his Christmas present last year was a kilo of seed potatoes.

Bob’s volunteer job of choice is to look after the community garden potato patch. He has made it a work of art – row after row of perfectly hilled potatoes. Half of the patch was planted with Warba potatoes and now at the end of August, the vines have died down and the potatoes below are full size. The rest of the patch is planted with an unknown variety, similar to Warba but the flesh is slightly more yellow. These have just finished blooming so the potatoes are still nugget size. Their harvest will come later.
