The hot side of the garden has taken off with a vengeance. What a jungle! The squash vines are much more lush than what we grew last year. It must be from all the soil preparation we did in the fall.
Here is the first spaghetti squash. I thought it was worthy of a photograph:
The vines are spreading everywhere, climbing the trellis, latching on to the the fence and spilling over. I’ve started pinching out the growing shoots. We have enough area covered; it’s time to concentrate on making fruit.
One tiny spaghetti squash was growing between the post and the wire. Not good. He’s gone now. I haven’t actually seen any butternut squash fruits yet, but the plant is doing well, holding it’s own against the spaghetti squash invasion.
