On Saturday we went to Mission for our appointments at ZZ Cuts, so we took a short trip around the block to see how things were growing at the Mission Soapbox Community Organic Garden. This small and charming community garden is built on a hillside overlooking the Mission Leisure Centre, just above the skateboard park.

Years ago, from 1954 to 1974, there was a soapbox derby race track on the nearby land. The garden itself was started in 1993, so has been in operation for almost two decades. We didn’t walk around the plots since the fence was locked, but they seem to be about 4′ x 12′, maybe twenty in all – I didn’t think to count them.

By the way, in case you were wondering what was wrong with my photography, the gardens really do slant downhill.
