Jim spent most of yesterday afternoon crafting the rest of the framework for our grid garden. He used four 2″x8″x10′ spruce boards for the length and one 1″x8″x8′ spruce board cut into four 2-foot pieces for the joiners. The ends are screwed to the outside frame with metal brackets. Each bed is exactly 4 feet wide and 20 feet long – perfect for square foot gardening. For stability, and as support for the future trellises, he put a 1″x8″x 4′ crossbrace in each bed, one at 9 feet and one at 11 feet, (photo) using the joiners to buttress them.
It’s a beautiful thing. We are very close to moving in!
